On the afternoon of November 19, 2024, the Graham Police Department was dispatched to a call for service, related to counterfeit money, at the Days Inn on Truby Drive. The responding officer determined that the subject responsible for passing the counterfeit money had provided a false name. As officers attempted to detain the subject, he fled on foot. The subject was apprehended moments later and identified as Ryan Everett, 38 years of age,from Kinston NC.
Everett was found to have outstanding felony warrants from four separate counties for the following offenses:
Attempted first degree murder (x2)
Discharging a firearm into occupied property (x6)
Felony breaking and entering
Larceny after breaking and entering
Possession of stolen goods
Injury to personal property
First degree burglary
Larceny of a firearm
Assault on a female
Attempted uttering
Everett was booked into the Alamance County Detention Center and held without bond.

School Teacher charged with Assault
Burlington, NC | On November 15, 2024, the Burlington Police Department received a report that Jessica Edwards, a 26-year-old teacher from Andrews Elementary School, had physically assaulted students on school property.
Following an investigation by the Burlington Police Department, Jessica Edwards has been charged with four counts of assault on individuals with a disability.
The assaults had taken place over the past weeks. As soon as this information was reported to Alamance-Burlington School staff, it was immediately reported to the Burlington Police Department.
Edwards was arrested and transported to the Alamance County Detention Center on Monday, November 18th. She received a $15,000 secured bond. A photograph is not available at this time.
The Alamance-Burlington School System is cooperating fully with the Burlington Police Department, and the investigation is continuing.

Snow Camp Man Charged With 1st Degree Murder
On Thursday, November 7, 2024 at 12:52 p.m., Deputies received a report of a shooting on White Road in Southern Alamance County. On arrival, Deputies located the body of Ervin Paul Brown Jr. Mr. Brown had been shot multiple times.
While on scene, Deputies were told that the shooter, identified as Jeffrey Brent Lucas, fled in a pickup truck. After a brief search of the area, Deputies located Mr. Lucas who was taken into custody without incident.
Detectives learned that Mr. Brown and Mr. Lucas were arguing over a small some of money. The argument spilled over from the previous evening. Witnesses told Deputies that as the argument continued, Mr. Lucas displayed a weapon and allegedly fired the fatal shots.
Mr. Lucas was arrested and transported to the Alamance County Detention Center where he remains.

Officer-Involved Shooting – Suspect in Stable Condition
Burlington, NC | On November 3, 2024, at 1:27 am, a woman called 911 stating that one of her sons (identified as Logan Blackwood, 19) was under the influence of drugs and was attempting to kill her other son. During the 911 call, police dispatchers could hear a woman screaming. Multiple officers were dispatched to the Misty Springs Mobile Home Park located at 928 Sharpe Road.
Upon arrival and while assessing the scene, the mother stated that Blackwood was possibly armed with a knife. Officers evacuated the woman from the residence. They then established a safety perimeter around the residence, allowing time to speak with Blackwood and de-escalate the encounter. While attempting to de-escalate the situation, Blackwell suddenly exited the residence and charged at police officers. The officers gave Blackwood commands, but he continued to charge at the officers, attacking them. As a result, an officer fired shots at Blackwood, striking him.
Officers immediately provided aid to Blackwood and requested emergency medical services. Blackwood is currently hospitalized in critical but stable condition.
Warrants for Blackwood’s arrest are pending for Assault on a Female, Aggravated Assault on a Handicapped Person, and Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer.
A male, related to Blackwood, was injured during the original reported assault. He was transported by EMS to another regional hospital for treatment and is in stable condition.
The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation has been requested to conduct a thorough investigation into the shooting incident. The involved officers are currently on administrative leave, as is standard practice in officer-involved shootings.
No Burlington Police officers were injured during this incident. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.

Burlington, NC | The Burlington Police Officer involved in the officer-involved shooting on November 3, 2024, has been identified as Police Officer Colton Ziemba.
The Burlington Police Officer assaulted during the incident has been identified as Police Officer Chandler Lawson. Blackwood remains in the hospital under treatment.
Warrants for Blackwood’s arrest are still pending for Assault on a Female, Aggravated Assault on a Handicapped Person, and Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer. Arrests Made in I-40 Road Rage and Shooting Incident
Graham Police Department Detectives have charged two suspects involved in the recent road rage and shooting incident on I-40 on October 23, 2024.
On October 28, 2024, warrants were issued for:
- Richard Alan Coane, age 62, of Mebane, NC
- Lavaughn Jerome Andrew Morton, age 31, of Greensboro, NC
Both were charged with Attempting to Discharge a Firearm into an Occupied
Vehicle and Discharging a Firearm within an Enclosure to Incite Fear.
On October 29, Richard Coane turned himself in at the Graham Police Department. He was taken to the Alamance County Detention Center, where he was held on a $105,000 secured bond.
Lavaughn Morton was apprehended in East Point, Georgia, on November 1 and is currently awaiting extradition back to North Carolina.

Burlington, NC | On October 30, 2024, at approximately 9:13 pm, officers responded to a disturbance at 2008 South Mebane Street, Burlington, North Carolina (The Point Apartments). Upon arrival, officers determined that an assault involving multiple juveniles and adults, some of which were armed with firearms, had just occurred. A short time later, Officers located the suspect vehicle on Beaumont Court, Burlington, NC, and detained the occupants. As a result of the detention and investigation, officers located firearms and 41 Grams of suspected Fentanyl. As a result of the investigation, the following individuals were arrested and charged with the following:
Yanessa Quanec Dudley, B/F, 36 years of age, of Burlington, NC - Trafficking Opium Schedule 1, one count of Carrying a Concealed Weapon, one count of Misdemeanor Child Abuse, two counts Simple Assault, three counts of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Juvenile, three counts Assault by Pointing a Gun, and Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury. Dudley received a $100,000 bond.
Damari Lashaun Crump, B/M, 18 years of age, of Burlington, NC- Three counts of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Juvenile, Carrying a Concealed Gun, and Simple Assault. Crump received a $1,500 secured bond.
A juvenile was also taken into custody related to this incident.

SUSPECT APPREHENDED AFTER GUNSHOTS FIRED DOWNTOWN
Graham, NC - On Thursday, October 31, 2024 at 11:27 pm, officers were dispatched to the 100 Block of N. Main Street after receiving multiple 911 calls regarding approximately 8-10 gunshots being fired in the downtown area. As officers were investigating, it was determined that a disturbance had occurred and a male subject went to his car, grabbed a handgun, and began firing the handgun into the air.
Sesar Sosa Jimenez-Aguilar, DOB: 08/08/1999, was taken into custody and charged with Possession of Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Discharge a Firearm in the City Limits, Going Armed to the Terror of the People, Injury to Personal Property, Injury to Real Property, and Simple Assault. He was taken to the Alamance County Detention Center and placed in jail under a $30,000 secured bond.
No injuries were reported at the scene.

On October 30, 2024, at approximately 1:00 A.M., officers with the Graham Police Department responded to a reported robbery at Planet Fitness, located at 412 S. Main St. The victim reported being robbed at gunpoint by three suspects who stole his 2014 Ford Mustang with NC license plate LCF-7473.
The suspects, described as three black males, were wearing face coverings and arrived together in a grey passenger car. Following the robbery, they fled the scene in the stolen Mustang, heading east on I40/I85 towards Mebane, with the grey vehicle seen following closely behind.
The victim sustained minor injuries during the incident but did not require immediate medical attention.

County Man Facing Multiple Felony Charges Including Statutory Rape And Incest
On Tuesday, October 29th, 2024, Detectives with the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Division began an investigation following a report of an alleged sexual assault. The alleged assault was believed to have occurred in southern Alamance County. During the investigation, Detectives found probable cause to bring charges against Paul Anthony Layton.
On Wednesday, October 30, 2024, Detectives, along with the assistance of the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, took Mr. Layton into custody at a location in Alamance County. Detectives served warrants for the arrest of Mr. Layton who was transported to the Alamance County Jail where he remains.

Media Release: Road Rage Shooting
On 10/23/2024 at 1:42 PM, Officers with the Graham Police Department responded to the area of I-40 at Exit 150 in reference to a shooting incident that had occurred between two vehicles.
Officers were able to locate one of the parties involved at the Loves Truck stop just off on I-40 on Trollingwood Hawfields Rd. Through the course of the investigation, Investigators were able to identify and locate the second party involved at a residence in Mebane.
The investigation has found that the incident was a result of road rage that first started near Exit 140 and University Drive in Burlington. The road rage continued on the interstate and into the City of Graham. Both individuals exchanged gun fire with each other.\
Fortunately, no one was seriously injured as a result of this incident. Investigators with the Graham Police Department are continuing to investigate this case and charges may be forthcoming towards individuals involved.

On Wednesday, October 16, 2024, Detectives began an investigation of alleged child abuse. During the investigation, a juvenile reported being assaulted by Jordan Paige Hayes. Detectives developed probable cause to charge the suspect.
Jordan Paige Hayes was arrested for felony child abuse and transported to the Alamance County Jail on October 16, 2024.
On Thursday, October 17, 2024, after further investigation of the case, Detectives found probable cause to charge Ms. Hayes with felony assault by strangulation.
Following a first appearance in court on Thursday, October 17, 2024, Ms. Hayes was given a $20,000 secured bond.

Burlington, NC | On May 28, 2024, at 7:45 p.m., the Burlington Police Department, Burlington Fire Department, and Alamance County Emergency Medical Services responded to the 600 block of Kivett Street for an unresponsive, malnourished male. Max Lyar Oilouch, 21 years of age, was located and pronounced deceased. The Burlington Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division began investigating the circumstances of Mr. Oilouch’s death.
Based on the investigation, detectives determined Mr. Oilouch suffered neglect from his primary caretaker, ultimately leading to his death.
On October 17, 2024, Max’s mother, Khlimolene “Kymo” Star Oilouch, 44 years of age, was arrested without incident and charged with Second Degree Murder. Bond information is currently unavailable.

At 10:26 pm on Friday, October 11, 2024 officers officers with the Graham Police Department responded to 412 E Hill Street for a reported shooting.
Upon arrival officers found two victims with gunshot wounds. One victim was pronounced dead on scene and the second victim was air-lifted to a local trauma center with life-threatening injuries. He later died from his injuries.
As a result of the investigation Derrick Ramont Spencer of Graham was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and one count of possessing a stolen firearm. The investigation is ongoing.

The Burlington Police Department is seeking additional information surrounding the Beaumont Apartment Shooting that occurred on September 20th. Tremaine Armstrong, 18 years old, of Burlington, and Kemontae Crosby, 21 years old, of Graham have been arrested in this case.

Through today’s investigation, detectives learned that last night’s incident occurred due to an argument between individuals, which led to shots being fired. During this act of violence, an uninvolved and innocent seven-year-old child was senselessly shot. Our deepest sympathies are with the family as the child is in critical condition.
Detectives have developed probable cause to arrest Tremaine Armstrong, 18 years old, of Burlington, for Attempted First Degree Murder. Probable cause was also developed to arrest Kemontae Crosby, 21 years old, of Graham, for Accessory after the fact to Attempted First Degree Murder. Armstrong and Crosby were taken into custody without incident on September 20, 2024. Bond information and photographs are not currently available.

Burlington, NC | On September 19, 2024, at 7:54 p.m., Officers with the Burlington Police Department responded emergency traffic to the public vehicular area of Beaumont Apartments located at 1334 Beaumont Ct, Burlington, NC after receiving multiple calls from residents within the apartment complex reporting initially a disturbance followed by a single gunshot. While responding to the scene Officers were additionally notified about subsequent callers from the initial dispatched disturbance were now reporting a child was shot.
Following arrival of first responders to the scene, the by-stander victim was located and confirmed to be a (7)seven year old male suffering from a single gunshot wound to the upper body. The victim was air-lifted to a nearby trauma center and is currently listed in stable condition.
Multiple witnesses on scene stated the child was not involved in the nearby disturbance that ended with person(s) unknown firing a weapon striking the unsuspecting victim.

Two Alamance County Juveniles Charged With Threats of Mass Violence
On Monday, September 16, 2024, the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office filed for juvenile petitions on two Alamance County juveniles. Each was charged with 1 count of felony threats to commit an act of mass violence on educational property.
The charges stem from an investigation which began on Thursday, September 12, 2024, after multiple social media posts were sent targeting ABSS schools. Working together with our law enforcement partners from the Burlington Police Department, Graham Police Department, Mebane Police Department and various social media platforms, the individuals were identified.
The Alamance County Sheriff’s Office is committed to the protection and safety of our students and staff, and we will always take every threat of violence seriously. We ask parents, grandparents, and caregivers of students to help us re-enforce the importance of useful social media posts, and the consequences of threatening and inappropriate posts.
The Alamance County Sheriff’s Office also wishes to thank our partners at the Alamance Burlington School System who worked side by side with us and gave our SRO’s and investigators the support needed to resolve this matter in a timely fashion.

Burlington, NC | On August 23, 2024, at 10:46 pm, officers responded to a report of shots being fired at the intersection of Madison Street and Jackson Street. Officers arrived on the scene and located a vehicle that had been struck with gunfire. Multiple victims and witnesses on the scene reported they were shot at by unknown suspects; however, no one was reported injured.
Burlington Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division continued the investigation and as a result, charged and arrested Damion Eduardo Tate, an 18-year-old male from Durham, NC, with two counts of Attempted First Degree Murder, Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Discharging a Firearm Inside of an Enclosure to Incite Fear, and Discharging a Weapon into an Occupied Vehicle. Tate is being held at the Alamance County Detention Center under no bond.

LIBERTY MAN CHARGED IN
HIT-AND-RUN CRASH
LIBERTY – A Liberty man will now face charges surrounding a hit-and-run crash that took the life of seventeen (17) year old, Daniela Trejo Mendiola on August 20th, in Alamance County.
During the ongoing investigation, troopers were presented with newfound information that spawned a request for assistance from the State Highway Patrol’s Collision Reconstruction Unit.
On Tuesday, September 3rd, 2024, Alamance County troopers and investigators with the Collision Reconstruction Unit met with the District Attorney’s Office to relay findings of their investigation.
Following an intense investigation conducted by Alamance County troopers, alongside investigators with the Collision Reconstruction Unit, the Alamance County District Attorney’s Office and State Highway Patrol will pursue felony hit-and-run charges against Joshua Thomas Brown, 38, of Liberty, N.C.
At 5:00 p.m. this evening, Brown voluntarily met investigators at the Alamance County Jail in Graham. Brown was arrested, charged, and brought before a magistrate. Brown faces felony hit-and-run and was also cited with a window tint violation.

LIBERTY – At 9:49 p.m. on Tuesday, August 20th, 2024, the State Highway Patrol responded to the report of a crash that occurred on Oak Grove Church Road near Garrett Road in Alamance County.
Joshua Thomas Brown, 38, of Liberty, N.C., was traveling northwest on Oak Grove Church Road, operating a 2011 Volkswagen passenger car. Daniela Trejo Mendiola, 17, of Graham, N.C. was traveling as a pedestrian in the middle of the roadway. Brown was unable to avoid the pedestrian and struck Mendiola.

Pair Charged With Possession Of Weapon On Campus Of Western Alamance High School
On Friday August 20, 2024 at approximately 8:20 a.m., the staff at Western Alamance High School notified the Sheriff’s Officer School Resource Officer (SRO) of a vehicle which was driving erratically in the student parking lot. The SRO attempted to make contact with the occupants of the vehicle, who had pulled into a school parking space. The driver of the vehicle exited the parking space at a high rate of speed striking a tractor and a pole, which belonged to the Alamance Burlington School System.
After the collision, with the quick response and assistance of school staff, the SRO detained the driver and a passenger of the vehicle. Deputies located a black BB Pistol in a paddle holster located in the floorboard of the vehicle between the passenger’s legs. A THC vape pen was also located in the vehicle.
Deputies identified the driver of the vehicle as Nathen Samuel Seger, a former student at Western Alamance High School and passenger Katlin Grace Wilson who is currently enrolled at Western Alamance High School.
Both were arrested and transported to the Alamance County Detention Center and taken before a Magistrate.

Detectives with the Burlington Police Department continued the investigation and developed probable cause to arrest Jaylen Francisco Garin, an 18-year-old male from Burlington. On August 26, 2024, Garin was taken into custody without incident and charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury. Garin received a $5,000 secure bond. The victim in this incident was identified as a 34-year-old male from Burlington and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The investigation revealed this was not a random act of violence.

Burlington, NC | On August 26, at approximately 11:21 a.m., the Burlington Police Department responded to a call for service for an individual being cut. Officers believe the incident occurred in the alleyway between The Holly Hill Mall and Publix. The victim was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries. The incident did not cause the closure of any businesses in the area. This was an isolated incident.
The investigation is ongoing. Officers are working to identify the suspect(s) in this case. The name of the victim is being withheld at this time due to safety concerns.
