Burlington, NC | Around 4:45pm on Friday, January 5, the Burlington Communications Center (911) dispatched officers to a motor vehicle theft and assault at an apartment complex off of Crouse Lane in Burlington. Officers arrived within two minutes of dispatch.  

  Officers located a 72-year-old male victim who had sustained minor injuries to his head. The victim had allowed the suspect inside his home, and after an argument, the suspect assaulted the victim with a cane, left the apartment, and stole the car.  

  Burlington Officers immediately worked on issuing a BOLO alert for the vehicle and a suspect description. Within 2 hours, the stolen vehicle was located by NC State Highway Patrol on NC 501 in Person County.  

  The suspect was identified as McColline Thorpe Jr., a 57-year-old male from Burlington. Thorpe has been charged with one felony count of Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon.   

  In addition to the charges for this incident, Thorpe is a suspect in another robbery and assault that occurred on December 24, 2023 on Trollinger Avenue. He was charged with two felony counts of Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, felony Assault inflicting Serious Injury, and felony Larceny of a Motor Vehicle for that incident.  

  McColline Thorpe, Jr. is currently in custody in the Person County Jail. He has been given a $41,000 bond.

On Friday, December 1, 2023, Deputies received a report of larceny which occurred at Dollar General, 2523 NC 54 Hwy Graham, N.C. Store management reported that they were conducting an internal investigation of larceny by an employee.

Dollar General Loss Prevention advised Deputies that they identified employee Deborah Ann Hensley as the offender. As the investigation continued, a non-employee, identified as James Haskel Vandling, was believed to have assisted Ms. Hensley in two separate larcenies from the store. Both incidents occurred on the same day in mid-November approximately three hours apart. The total value of the stolen items was $600-$800.

After working with Dollar General Loss Prevention, ACSO Detectives arrested Mr. Vandling on December 20, 2023. Ms. Hensley was arrested on January 1, 2024.

Kidnaping at Sheetz

Burlington, NC | On Tuesday, December 25, around 11:30 pm the Burlington Communications Center (911) took a call from a man who reported that his vehicle had been stolen from the parking lot of Sheetz (2628 Alamance Road) with his two children, ages 1 and 3, inside the car.
 
As Burlington Police Officers arrived, they determined the direction the vehicle traveled and quickly located the abandoned vehicle in a ditch in the 400 block of Trail Four, a little over one mile away from the Sheetz. Both children were unharmed and were reunited with their parent.
 
Police have obtained surveillance video and photos and are seeking assistance from the community. One of the suspects is described as a black male weighing approximately 150-170 pounds, last seen wearing a dark-colored hoodie and striped toboggan. Before the incident, the suspect was occupying a Silver Hyundai that investigators believe was involved as well.

Two Arrested After Stolen Construction Equipment Found By Patrol Deputies

On the evening of Monday, December 29, 2023, Alamance County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Deputies received information that a heavy piece of construction equipment, believed to have been stolen, was on a property in the 3400 blk. of Blue Moon Trail, Burlington, N.C. (northern Alamance County)

After receiving this information, Deputies developed probable cause and applied for a search warrant. The search warrant was granted and executed at the residence. Deputies found a stolen Kubota Skid Steer Loader along with a stolen moped. The Skid Steer Loader was entered as stolen in South Carolina.

Deputies requested a second search warrant whereby multiple firearms were found and seized from the residence.

Two occupants of the residence, Rodney Eugene Poe, Jr. and Robert Jeffrey McHenry, were arrested. Both suspects were transported to the Alamance County Detention Center.

On Wednesday, November 22, 2023, Duke Energy officials reported to the Sheriff’s Office that they believed someone was stealing rolls of copper wire. These larcenies occurred at a facility on Woody Dr. in Graham. Detectives learned that linemen, who are contractors with Duke Energy, store equipment and vehicles at the site.

During the investigation, ACSO Detectives developed a suspect by using security camera footage, sales records of copper sold at local scrapyards, and Crimestoppers tips. With this information, Detectives developed probable cause to charge Mr. Sam Fenton Wilson.

On Thursday, December 28, 2023, ACSO Detectives arrested Mr. Wilson at his residence. Mr. Wilson was transported to the Alamance County Detention Center where he remains.

This investigation is ongoing with the possibility of additional charges.

Burlington, NC | On Friday, December 8, Detectives in the Special Victims Unit with the Burlington Police Department opened an investigation after receiving information indicating a school administrator, Daniel McInnis from Eastlawn Elementary, was allegedly involved in misconduct with a student on school property. 

As a result of the weeks-long investigation, Daniel McInnis has been charged with one count of statutory sex offense (felony). 

McInnis, a 43-year-old male from Burlington, was charged and transported to the Alamance County Detention Center on Friday, December 29. He has received a $500,000.00 bond.  

The Alamance-Burlington School System was made aware that the administrator was under investigation and cooperated fully during the Burlington Police Department’s investigation.  

 

The department has not received additional reports of misconduct and continues the investigation. A photo is not available at this time.

Burlington, NC | In response to complaints, Burlington Police Officers observed criminal activity at 710 Staley Street during a community patrol. Patrol officers began an investigation and with the assistance of multiple patrol teams, the Alamance Narcotics Enforcement Team (ANET) and Burlington Regional SWAT Team, a search warrant was executed on December 22, 2023. Officers located over 44 grams of cocaine and drug paraphernalia in the home. 

Eric Wilbert Moye (DOB 4/24/1969), a 54-year-old male, was charged with Possession with Intent to Sale and Deliver Cocaine (felony), Maintain Dwelling for Sale of Controlled Substance (felony), and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (misdemeanor).  

Shuandreikas Booker (DOB 5/10/1988), a 35-year-old male, was charged with Trafficking Cocaine (felony), Maintain Dwelling for Sale of Controlled Substance (felony), and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (misdemeanor).  

Edward Moye (DOB 4/24/1969), a 54-year-old male, was charged with Maintain Dwelling for Sale of Controlled Substance (felony).  

Eric Moye and Booker were transported to the Alamance County Detention Center. Edward Moye was already in custody. All received no bond for the charges.

Burlington, NC | Burlington Police Department received several tips and complaints from Crimestoppers about criminal activity at 608 Dailey Street. As a result of the complaints, BPD worked with investigators from the Alamance Narcotics Enforcement Team (ANET). Burlington, NC | Shortly before 10:00 am on Saturday, December 9, 2023, Burlington Police responded to a call reporting a stabbing on the 600 block of Avon Avenue. As officers arrived, they located one victim with multiple stab wounds.
 
Through investigation, detectives learned that an altercation occurred in the front yard of the residence. During the disturbance, a suspect stabbed one victim, before leaving the scene.
 
The victim, 42-year-old male from Burlington, was transported to a local hospital and is currently listed in stable condition.
 
Detectives are still investigating, however, at this time it appears to have been a targeted incident. The department is in the process of gathering information and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone who may have witnessed this altercation is encouraged to share more information with the department.
 
                                            ****UPDATE*****
Burlington, NC | Through the course of the investigation, Detectives identified Ricky Jerrell Pinchback as the suspect in the Avon Avenue stabbing incident. Pinchback, a 35-year-old male from Burlington, was arrested on December 14 and charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury (felony). He was transported to the Alamance County Detention Center and received no bond.
 
The 42-year-old victim has been released from the hospital.

Tyler Roten is wanted for multiple drug charges.
 

Burlington, NC | On Monday, December 11, patrol officers with the Burlington Police Department responded to a breaking and entering call for service. When they arrived at 2448 Ashton Park Lane, the resident Tyler Allen Roten, a 32-year-old male, told police that he believed that someone had broken into his home and was still inside. 

 

As police searched through the home, they found evidence of what appeared to be equipment utilized to process Psilocybin Mushrooms. After investigating the initial call for service and determining there was no one trespassing on the property or inside the home, officers began an investigation into the suspected mushroom-growing operation. Officers returned to the home later in the day to execute a search warrant related to the Psilocybin Mushroom grow operation. At the time of the search warrant, Roten was not present. 

 

As a result of the search warrant the following pieces of evidence have been seized: 

Jarred Psilocybin Mushrooms (over 1,300 grams) 

LSD (46 dosage units) 

Cocaine (6.6 grams) 

THC Wax 

Paraphernalia 

 

Tyler Roten is wanted for the following charges:  two (2) counts of Possession with intent to manufacture sell and distribute (felony), and one (1) count each of manufacturing Schedule I (felony), Possession of Cocaine (felony), Possession of Schedule VI (felony), Maintaining a Dwelling (felony), and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (misdemeanor).

EVEN SUSPECTS IDENTIFIED IN SERIES OF VEHICLE THEFT INCIDENTS

SEVEN SUSPECTS IDENTIFIED IN SERIES OF VEHICLE THEFT INCIDENTS
 
Investigators with the Graham Police Department have identified several suspects involved in a series of auto theft incidents that occurred at Westgate Triad Mitsubishi beginning in June of 2023.
 
The suspects were responsible for stealing seven vehicles that totaled more than $290,000.00.
 
All of the stolen vehicles have since been recovered except a blue 2022 Dodge Charger Scat Pack with damage to the front of the vehicle.
 
Through the exhaustive work of investigators and with the assistance of several law enforcement agencies, the following suspects were identified:
 
-Tyler Hokes (23 y/o) of Charlotte, NC (Arrested)
-Zaire Lucky (23 y/o) of Charlotte, NC (Arrested)
 
-Donavon Murphy (26 y/o) of Charlotte, NC (Wanted)
-Justice Albright (19 y/o) of Charlotte, NC (Wanted)
-Adalberto De Jesus De La Cruz (20 y/o) of Charlotte, NC (Wanted)
-Thomas Vinson Jr. (20 y/o) of Charlotte, NC (Wanted)
-Shoun Young (22 y/o) of Charlotte, NC (Wanted)
 
A total of 59 felony charges and 9 misdemeanor charges have been issued concerning these cases.
 
We could not have been successful without the cooperation of various citizens across the State of North Carolina and the assistance of the Hickory Police Department, the Charlotte – Mecklenburg Police Department, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, the Atlanta Metropolitan Police Department and the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction.
 
This incident is still under investigation. Updates will follow as additional information develops.

Justice Albright was arrested by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. He was wanted for his involvement in a series of auto thefts that occurred beginning in June at Westgate Triad Mitsubishi in Graham.

Adalberto De Jesus De La Cruz was arrested by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. The 20-year-old was wanted for his involvement in a series of auto thefts that occurred beginning in June at Westgate Triad Mitsubishi in Graham.

ACSO Investigators Close Cold Case Sex Offender Violation

On Wednesday, October 25, 2023, Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit (SVU) Investigators re-opened a cold case sex offender violation investigation after receiving new information. The case involved registered sex offender Taron Nathaniel Allison, an absconder from the NC Sex Offender Registry since 2019. Mr. Allison also had warrants for felony failure to report new address and felony failure to register sex offender from 2020.

New information received indicated that Mr. Allison had a current and active online identifier which was not registered with the ACSO as pursuant to the NC Sex Offender Registry.

Acting on this new information, Investigators charged Mr. Allison with Felony Failure to Register Sex Offender.

On Friday, December 1, 2023, Mr. Allison was arrested and taken into custody in Baltimore, Md. Mr. Allison was extradited to Alamance County on Thursday, December 7, 2023 and remains in the Detention Center.

Burlington, NC | Detectives with the Burlington Police Department have identified one adult and three juveniles involved in setting a fire at a Western Electric Company building. Western Electric is a 22-acre manufacturing site with 16 buildings located at 204 Graham-Hopedale Road in Burlington.  

After an anonymous community tip, detectives received information that placed Wayland Phillips and three juveniles at Western Electric. Through the investigation, detectives determined that the group was at the building on November 12 and November 24, 2023, and had set fire to the building on one occasion. 

Wayland Heath Phillips, a 22-year-old male from Graham, has been charged with one count of breaking and entering (felony) and one count burning certain building (felony) from November 12. Additionally, he has been charged with one count of breaking and entering (misdemeanor) and one count of discharging a firearm in city limits (misdemeanor) from November 24. Phillips was not given a bond and is currently at the Alamance County Detention Center. 

The Burlington Police Department has filed petitions against each of the three juveniles, aged 13, 14, and 15, for one count of breaking and entering (felony) and one count of burning certain building (felony). The 14-year-old juvenile also has an additional count of breaking and entering (misdemeanor) from November 24. 

All four suspects have been identified by the Graham Police Department and the Alamance County Sheriff's Office for their involvement in fires at Culp Weaving on November 12 and a house fire in Green Level on November 13. 

The fire that started inside Western Electric on November 12 damaged one interior room but did not spread to other parts of the building.

On Wednesday, December 6, 2023, ACSO Investigators followed up on a tip from the community about the Carolina Mill Fire. The vacant mill in the Carolina community, 2058 Carolina Mill Rd., Burlington, N.C., was reported to be on fire at 4:03 a.m., Saturday, November 25, 2023.
 
During the investigation, three individuals were identified as suspects. Investigators interviewed each of the suspects and determined they were responsible for the fire.
 
The suspects were identified as James Riley Cockman, Leyton James Lockemy, William Steven Holland.
 
Mr. Cockman was arrested on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at 11:00 p.m. and remains in jail. Mr. Lockemy as arrested on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at 7:05 p.m. and released on bond. Mr. Holland was arrested on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at 6:09 a.m. and remains in jail.

Adult/Three Juveniles Charged After Housefire And Culp Weaving Fire
 
On Monday, November 13, 2023, at 12:09 a.m., Deputies responded to a housefire in the 900 block of Apple Blossom Ln., Burlington, N.C. (Green Level). On arrival, the Haw River Fire Chief and Alamance County Fire Marshal advised they believed the fire was intentionally set.
 
During the investigation, ACSO Investigators received an anonymous tip that Wayland Heath Phillips was possibly involved with the Culp Weaving fire in Graham on Sunday, November 12, 2023. The Culp Weaving fire was reported at 7:56 p.m.
 
Investigators conducted interviews, search warrants and additional investigative measures which led to Mr. Phillips’ arrest for his involvement in the Culp Weaving fire and the housefire in Green Level. It was also learned that three juveniles ranging in age from 13 to 15 years old were also involved in both fires.
 
ACSO Investigators shared this information with the Graham Police Department who also brought charges against the suspects.
Mr. Phillips was arrested and booked into the Alamance County Detention Center where he remains. The ACSO filed petitions against the three juveniles.

Mebane Man Charged With 2nd Degree Sexual Exploitation Of A Minor

On Wednesday, May 18, 2022, Investigators with the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office Street Crimes Unit and the Special Victims Unit began an investigation from a cyber tip. Information from the cyber tip alleged that an individual uploaded child sexual abuse material (CSAM) files to the internet. The investigation led investigators to a suspect living in Mebane, N.C.

On Friday, September 8, 2022, Investigators conducted a search warrant at the suspect’s residence. The suspect was identified as Omarius Rhashaa Credle.

During the search of the residence, electronic devices were seized and submitted for forensic examination. On completion of the forensic examination, Investigators found probable cause to charge Mr. Credle with one count of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, a Class E felony.

On Sunday, November 19, 2023, Mr. Credle was arrested and transported to the Alamance County Detention Center.
